Nothing is more important than maximising biodiversity.
Satisfying human desires comes number two.
- Rather than continuing to dominate the biosphere, we reach an understanding that our needs fall in equal-second place along with the needs of all other species.
- Submitting to the understanding that we are part of the biosphere, not separate from it.
- Accepting that, like King Cnut, we are ultimately operating at the grace of greater geological and astronomical forces, to which we can only respond, not control.
- Instead of acting as domineering landlords, we start to behave as tenants with a ‘repairing lease’ on our world: responsible for healing and enriching the environment, not damaging and depleting it.
By adopting altrusitic, rather than selfish behaviours, we can bring all humankind on the journey.
